Things to visit in Pollensa: Saint Domingo's convent
In the center of the charming village of Pollensa, and just 8 kilometers from La Goleta Hotel de Mar, is located this historic building of the sixteenth century. Now a days, it’s part of the list of things you have to visit in Pollensa. This building was owned by monks, until the town council ceded the possession in 1833. Since then, the convent has had various uses. It has been a hospice, a barracks and even a school.
This convent church has impressive ten chapels. Next to the church is located the jewel of this building, a baroque cloister. Currently this cloister is known internationally for being the scene of the Classical Music Festival of Pollensa since 1962, a meeting that is held in the months of July and August.
In the same convent of Santo Domingo is located the Pollensa Museum, which has a collection of contemporary paintings and archaeological pieces, a Buddhist mandala and the Atilio Boveri collection.
