Discovering Mallorca: The Pollensa Calvari
Without a doubt, our island has plenty of places to discover. Villages with impressive cultural landscapes are interspersed with countless cultural attractions and all kinds of old and contemporary buildings.
Today from La Goleta - Hotel de Mar - we want to recommend a visit to Pollensa. This town, located in the north of the island, has a special charm and one of its main attractions is the Calvari of Pollensa.
The staircase of 365 steps starts in a small village square and ascend Mount Calvary to lead us to a point where, in addition to a enjoy a spectacular view, we will find a chapel and a chapel dating from S. XVIII.
The 365 steps, flanked by cypresses and with some crosses Via Crucis style, can be up quietly and with pauses to turn around and take a look at the distance traveled and the people that is left behind.
Once up we saw part of the coast, the Port of Pollensa and the Serra de Tramuntana. We also see the steps where in Easter time they celebrate Christ’s crucifixion.
Inside the chapel there is a sculpture of the crucified Christ with the Virgin at the foot of the fourteenth century.
An excursion that we recommend primarily in the months from October to May. Discover Mallorca with La Goleta!
